Secret Faces SkinPen® Microneedling
Microneedling is your new best friend when it comes to combatting the appearance of facial acne scars.
Microneedling is also used to treat and improve fine lines and wrinkles, loose skin, skin texture, pore size, brown spots, stretch marks, and pigment issues. Most anyone can have the procedure performed as long as they do not have any active infections, lesions, or any known wound healing problems.
How Microneedling Works?
SkinPen® by Bellus Medical, is a leader in medical aesthetics products and devices and the first FDA-cleared microneedling device used exclusively by healthcare professionals and clinically proven to safely and effectively treat facial acne scars for all ages 22 and up. It is designed to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and scars on the face and body.
SkinPen® Microneedling is more sanitary because it uses disposable needle cartridges.
Three phases to the wound-repair process:
Inflammation - Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow, and begin to create new tissue.
Proliferation - The wound is rebuilt with new granulation cells, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.
Remodeling - The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels.
What you can expect from a SkinPen® treatment:
Darlene Walchuk RN, BScN. will recommend a course of procedures based on your individual goals. Maintenance of your procedure might require multiple treatments.
Based on your needs, a topical numbing agent may be applied to the treatment area. The treatment will likely take about 30 minutes. Most patients report feeling only the slight vibration of SkinPen® during the procedure.
Minimal post-procedure effects.
The skin will appear slightly pink to red immediately post-procedure. Most common treatment responses experienced were dryness, rough skin, tightness, redness, itching, peeling, discomfort, tenderness, and burning. These conditions resolve over time without any further complications.
