Dermal Fillers Frequently Asked Questions

What are the different Types of Filler?

Cosmetic Doctor can use a variety of different filler types, from Saypha®, Restylane, and Teosyal® (as well as different types of each brand) suitable for use in order to:

  • Reduce lines and wrinkles

  • Create more defined or fuller lips,

  • Define the contours of your face, such as chin or cheek,

  • Boost your skin’s vitality, for a healthier more hydrated skin tone on the face, hands, neck or décolletage

Who cannot use Filler?

Dermal fillers should not be used in or near areas where there is or has been skin disease, inflammation, or skin-related problems. It is not recommended to use fillers or anti-wrinkle injectables whilst you are pregnant or breastfeeding. People with particular medical conditions, or those undergoing immunosuppressive therapy may not be good candidates for any treatments or procedures that require a skin injection procedure, due to the risk of infection.

What if I’m not sure exactly what I need?

This is where your practitioner’s skill and experience come into play. And it is a collaboration – you and your practitioner discuss together a treatment plan to get the results you are looking for. Your practitioner uses injectables to get the optimal improvement.

Is the treatment uncomfortable?

The injections are done with very fine needles and we’ve added lidocaine to our products for an experience that’s very well tolerated. Additionally, your practitioner can apply an anaesthetic cream for added comfort prior to your treatment.

Are there possible side effects?

Injectable fillers are compatible with your skin and manufactured under the strictest safety protocols. You will typically be able to return to daily activities immediately after your treatment. You may experience some post-treatment temporary tenderness, redness, swelling or bruising in the injected area. These symptoms are usually mild, diminishing each day, and will disappear within seven days. Your practitioner may have you apply an ice pack for a brief period immediately after the injection to help soothe any swelling.

How long will my results last?

The results are long-lasting! Depending on the specific injectable product used, the injection area and the individual dispositions of the skin, the results can last for several months and up to a year.

How can I prepare for my treatment?

In order to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site, avoid any medications such as anticoagulants and anti-inflammatories that can prolong bleeding, also avoid wine, omega vitamins, garlic, green tea, turmeric a couple of days prior to the treatment and after to minimize bruising the week before receiving the treatment. After the injection, it is best not to apply makeup for 12 hours and avoid sunbathing or high temperatures for one week. Your practitioner can advise you further.
