What are Dermal Fillers?
The four major structural components of our face are skin, fat, muscle, and bone. As we age, volume loss in these structures contributes to many of the visible signs of aging.
Fillers or Dermal Fillers are used to fill in wrinkles, add volume to lips, give a slight lift to sagging skin and fill in contour irregularities. More than 1 million men and women annually choose this facial rejuvenation treatment, which can be a cost-effective way to look younger without surgery or downtime.
One of the most common compounds used in dermal fillers is hyaluronic acid. HA is a naturally occurring substance found in our skin, and it plays a major role in keeping skin hydrated and volumized. HA fillers, depending on their specific chemical makeup, can last from six months to much longer before being gradually absorbed by the body.
Secret Faces provides Saypha®, Restylane, and Teosyal® Each product is uniquely formulated to have a certain texture, density, and injection depth, and work better for certain areas of concern.
How Does It Work?
Dermal Fillers basically restore lost volume to your face and plump areas, so that deep-set lines are smoothed. As we get older our bodies stop producing collagen and elastin, both of which contribute to the youthful look.
They enhance and restore volume to sunken cheeks or temples. Diminish vertical lips lines, plump and enhance lips, smooth out a chin crease, and improve symmetry among facial features.
Dermal Fillers are instant, so you can see a visible result immediately after injection. It takes up to 4 weeks for the filler to fully integrate into the tissue and some fillers are more cohesive than others.
The effects of Dermal Fillers can last anywhere between three months to two years. It depends on the product being used and where on the body the product is being injected.
Dermal Filler injections are non-surgical and typically completed during an office visit. Your initial treatment will begin with a consultation to discuss your concerns and goals.
Just before the treatment, the area will be cleaned, and you may be given a topical anesthetic to numb the area prior to injection.
Dermal Fillers contain Hyaluonic acid that add fullness to areas that have thinned due to aging and volume loss.
Common areas treated are in the cheeks, lips, chin, temples, jawline and smiles lines above the lip or around the mouth. Dermal Fillers last an average of 6 months to 12 months.
Depending on the areas treated and the product used, you should notice results immediately after receiving injections. Some patients experience mild bruising and swelling, but these are temporary and should subside over the days following treatment.
Frequently Ask Questions
Are you considering a Dermal Fillers for the first time?
Here are a few questions and answers that may help you decide.
Is the treatment uncomfortable?
The injections are done with very fine needles and we’ve added lidocaine to our products for an experience that’s very well tolerated. Additionally, your practitioner can apply an anesthetic cream for added comfort prior to your treatment.
Are there possible side effects?
Injectable fillers are compatible with your skin and manufactured under the strictest safety protocols. You will typically be able to return to daily activities immediately after your treatment. You may experience some post-treatment temporary tenderness, redness, swelling or bruising in the injected area. These symptoms are usually mild, diminishing each day, and will disappear within seven days. Your practitioner may have you apply an ice pack for a brief period immediately after the injection to help soothe any swelling.
How long will my results last?
The results are long-lasting! Depending on the specific injectable product used, the injection area and the individual dispositions of the skin, the results can last for several months and up to a year.
